September: Patience and Letting Go
LATEST BLOG
As we step into SePTEMBER, I’m reminded of the gift that comes when we soften our grip.
September feels like an invitation to surrender control, to lean into patience, and to remember that growth doesn’t always happen on our timeline.
So much of life asks us to let go of expectations, of needing to know the outcome, of trying to control every moving part. When we resist this, we hold tension in our bodies and in our hearts. But when we trust the process, even the unknown can feel like a place of safety.
This lesson has been very alive for me. Over recent months I’ve been moving through layers of grief: grief in family loss, and grief in shedding old parts of my own identity. There were days I felt undone by it all. And then, life placed me here: five weeks of unknown, followed by a gentle arrival on Niue Island. What began as fear of the unfamiliar has slowly softened into grounding.
I’m learning not to rush the healing, but instead to honour the patience it requires.
This trip has also been deeply personal. My mum is Niuean (full) and I am three-quarters Niuean, so being here together has reconnected me to lineage, family, and my own sense of self. I’ll be sharing some photos from Niue, both of the place and of mum and, because this journey has been one of returning, remembering, and healing.
September reminds us that it’s okay to slow down, to feel everything, and to trust that letting go doesn’t mean losing, it means making space.
Journal Prompts
Where in your life are you noticing the urge to hold on tightly or control outcomes?
What would it look like to release those grips, even just a little?
Where can you invite in more patience—for yourself, for others, for the process?
Who or what could support you in your journey of letting go?
I believe deeply in the power of support. For me, leaning into friends, counsellors, and healers has been the bridge between resistance and surrender. If you are navigating a similar season, know that you don’t have to carry it alone.

Niue reflections — sharing photos from my time on Niue with mum, celebrating family, roots and connection to self.
September teaches us that the greatest strength often comes not from holding on, but from releasing. In letting go of control, we discover space for patience, grounding, and trust.
My hope is that this month reminds you—just as it has reminded me—that even in times of uncertainty, we are always being guided.
With love,
